Through its work over the years, Espronceda<\/em> has been committed to promoting sustainable development<\/strong>, i.e. meeting the needs of current generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs, as defined in the “Our Commons Future<\/em>” report of 1987, a milestone for fair, just development in harmony with our planet. Since 2015, following the lines of the Agenda 2030, Espronceda has been actively promoting the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals<\/strong> by collaborating with artistic, cultural and creative institutions around the world to explore, investigate and disseminate art as a tool for social and environmental change.<\/p>\n

We believe there is a need to change our approach by redefining our position in the world, to overcome the current anthropocentric model <\/strong>and rewrite our future in an eco-centric<\/strong> and balanced way. For us, artistic research assumes an important educational role in raising awareness, informing and educating citizens about current issues, helping them to imagine creative solutions and effective alternatives to address the current ecological and systemic crisis. Art<\/strong> can help us to understand the true relational nature of all the world’s social and environmental ecosystems, and can sensitize the global community to more aware actions, stimulating the imagination to build positive futures in harmony with the whole Planet.<\/p>\n

Following this philosophy, Espronceda<\/em>, in many of its activities, connects art to the three pillars of sustainability – equity, environment, and economy <\/em>– through artistic research projects, exhibitions, seminars, artist residencies, and civic engagement actions along three main lines:<\/p>\n
