Antonio Caro is born in 1950 in Bogota, Colombia. He studied art at the National University of Bogota from 1969 to 1971. His work became famous for using iconic visuals as a conceptualisation of the Colombian politics since the 1970’s. With a critical eyes on the social, economical and political situation, he became one of the most influent conceptual artist of Latin America. In 1998, Caro received the prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship.
