Fritz Bornstück’s paintings form orgies of scraps and junk: lightbulbs, matches, bottles, fruit, cables, a mug. Both quiet and busy at the same time, these assemblages are what is left over when the focus is taken elsewhere. Fritz Bornstück’s works step out of different traditions to form something new and often ambiguous with contrasting brushstrokes, paint squeezed directly from the tube, and textile swatches creating a dynamic play on the surface.
