BCNUP FEST celebrates its 5th anniversary by returning to ESPRONCEDA’s exterior walls with a new urban art intervention combining public space, community and digital experimentation.

Within the framework of NEB & Inclusió 2026.

ESPRONCEDA – Institute of Art & Culture, in collaboration with BCN Paste-Up, presents a new large-scale mural intervention as part of the fifth edition of BCNUP FEST – Barcelona International Paste-Up Street Art Fest.

Celebrating its 5th anniversary in 2026, BCNUP FEST returns to one of its original locations: the exterior walls of ESPRONCEDA, reconnecting with the festival’s roots and with one of its central principles — keeping the street and public space at the heart of urban artistic creation.The intervention brings together the international dimension of BCNUPFEST — with more than 200 artists from around the world contributing works to this year’s edition, from France and Italy to China, the United States and Australia — with the local community of Navas and Sant Andreu. Throughout the day, the exterior wall of ESPRONCEDA will become a collective space for artistic creation, neighbourhood participation and intergenerational exchange.

The initiative, developed within the framework of NEB & Inclusió 2026, places the neighbourhood and its community at the centre of the experience, inviting local residents, families and young people to engage with urban art through an open and participatory process.

Children and families become part of the mural

A dedicated area of the mural will be reserved for children to create, experiment and contribute directly to the wall, introducing younger participants to urban art as a form of collective expression and giving them an active role in transforming their immediate surroundings. Children and families from the neighbourhood, as well as families from the wider ESPRONCEDA community, are invited to take part during the morning and afternoon and to return in the evening to experience the mural’s digital transformation.

From the physical mural to a digital experience

A key element of the project is the integration of a digital layer. The physical mural becomes the starting point for an experience exploring the intersection between analogue urban art and digital technologies, investigating new ways of connecting the artwork, public space and the community through hybrid and interactive experiences.

The digital component expands the mural beyond its physical format, exploring how technology can generate new relationships between urban art, territory and the people who inhabit and interact with it. The day will culminate at around 20:00 with the digital intervention, offering the public the opportunity to experience the mural from a new perspective as physical urban art and digital experimentation come together.

About BCN Paste-Up and BCNUP FEST

BCN Paste-Up is the collective behind the Barcelona International Paste-Up Street Art Fest (BCNUP FEST), created together with Rockaxson to spread paste-up culture and position Barcelona as an international meeting point for urban art on paper.

Now celebrating its fifth edition in 2026, BCNUP FEST has brought together artists from around the world who find in paste-up a direct, ephemeral and profoundly urban language, capable of transforming walls into spaces of artistic dialogue. To celebrate its fifth anniversary, BCNUPFEST returns to one of its original locations: the exterior walls of ESPRONCEDA – Institute of Art & Culture. The intervention reinforces one of the festival’s central ideas — keeping the street as a space for visual interaction, connecting with the neighbourhood and bringing different generations together through art. ESPRONCEDA has supported BCNUPFEST since its first edition, contributing to the visibility of emerging artists and to the recognition of street art as an accessible space for experimentation, participation and creation.
