An immersive audiovisual performance by Leonardo Cincinelli and Diego Suárez Bárcena !ME(NOTme)
ESPRONCEDA – Institute of Art & Culture is pleased to present Per Aria, a new immersive audiovisual performance by Italian pianist, composer, and producer Leonardo Cincinelli, created in collaboration with digital artist Diego Suárez Bárcena !ME(NOTme). Presented as part of Constellation Lab, the project explores the relationship between acoustic music, generative visual environments, and spatial perception through a format that transcends the traditional concert experience.
Blurring the boundaries between performance, installation, and digital scenography, Per Aria transforms ESPRONCEDA into a living environment where piano, light, and electronic media interact in real time. Through a carefully orchestrated dialogue between sound and image, the work invites audiences into an immersive landscape where the visible and the invisible continuously shape one another.
At the centre of the experience stands the piano—not only as an instrument, but as a symbolic and physical presence. Light becomes an active performer, responding to the musical composition through projections, atmospheres, and spatial interventions that unfold throughout the architectural environment. Visual and sonic elements merge into a single expressive language, creating a series of evolving states that emerge, transform, and dissolve before the audience.
A journey through transformation
Conceived as a meditation on cycles of creation, transformation, and renewal, Per Aria reflects on the fragile processes through which forms, ideas, and identities come into being. Drawing inspiration from natural rhythms and human experience, the work explores themes of emergence, impermanence, and interconnectedness.
Within this suspended environment, uncertainty becomes a creative force. Rather than offering fixed narratives, the performance opens a contemplative space where audiences are invited to engage with ambiguity, imagination, and the act of perception itself.
The title Per Aria—Italian for “through the air”—refers to the invisible medium through which both sound and light travel. At the same time, it evokes a state of suspension between presence and absence, matter and immateriality, reality and possibility. The work proposes a sensory encounter in which not everything needs to be understood in order to be deeply experienced.
