HUMAN SIGNS by Yuval Avital - LOOP BARCELONA: CITY SCREEN 2021

Por primera vez desde su creación, la obra monumental de Yuval Avital que reúne a más de 200 artistas de todo el mundo se presentará en el Instituto de Arte y Cultura ESPRONCEDA con motivo de LOOP BARCELONA: CITY SCREEN 2021, uno de los festivales de videoarte más importantes de Europa que se celebra anualmente en Barcelona.

El proyecto participativo SIGNOS HUMANOS, una obra de arte global de voz y gesto, está concebido por el artista multimedia y compositor Yuval Avitalen colaboración conStefania Ballone, bailarina y coreógrafa del Teatro alla Scala.

Una anomalía artística, no producida ni encargada por ninguna entidad, sino deseada por los propios artistas. Nacido durante el encierro de COVID-19, interpretando la estética viral de este momento histórico único, SIGNOS HUMANOS ha reunido hasta ahora a más de 200 artistas de 50 países, cada uno de los cuales propone un profundo testimonio artístico individual que converge en un poderoso fresco expresivo multimedia. El testimonio artístico vocal de 12 minutos de Yuval, filmado durante su reclusión, expresa su estado más íntimo y se convierte en una capa fundamental con la que se relacionan todos los artistas como guía temporal, musical y de intensidad (similar al concepto renacentista de Cantus Firmus), permitiendo con este método posibles interconexiones infinitas entre todos los participantes, creando coros, conjuntos, constelaciones y diálogos íntimos. Aportando un profundo sentido de unión, HUMAN SIGNS pretende superar la distancia física y el aislamiento, por lo que nos invita a explorar de forma diferente los espacios, lenguajes y formas de interconexión, como parte de una reflexión colectiva sobre un tiempo histórico único. HUMANSIGNS se presentó en línea como una obra de arte multimedia a través del Archivo Digital Viviente y fuera de línea a través de performances LIVE GRID en cinco ciudades diferentes de todo el mundo (Nueva York, San Petersburgo,Tel Aviv, Milán, Turín).La exposición conduce a los visitantes al universo de HUMAN SIGNS a través de tres capítulos. El primer elemento será un políptico animado de siete proyecciones paralelas, en el que un flujo constante de las actuaciones autofilmadas de los artistas crea un conjunto idealmente infinito. El segundo elemento de la exposición permite a los visitantes conocer virtualmente a los artistas y escuchar directamente todas las emociones que experimentaron al participar en la actuación, y ver las actuaciones de LIVEGRID que tuvieron lugar en los últimos meses en todo el mundo. El tercer elemento es una sala de experiencias, en la que cada visitante puede involucrarse completamente con la obra de arte como intérprete utilizando su voz y su cuerpo en diálogo con el cantus firmus de Yuval Avital. La exposición también acogerá un nuevo LIVE GRID en el que participarán artistas barceloneses en diálogo con los vídeos circundantes.

Yuval Avital: Born in Jerusalem in 1977 and living in Milan, Yuval Avital is a multimedia artist, composerand guitarist who develops his works in a variety of spaces, including public places, industrialarchaeologicalsites, theatres and museums, challenging the traditional crystallized categories thatseparate the arts. His exhibitions, performances, immersive installations, total works, large-scale sound»rituals» and concerts involve dancers, contemporary music ensembles, masters of ancient cultures andtraditions, individuals or communities recruited in participatory works, multi-projection video, meditativetactile environments, advanced technological tools, archival materials, collaborations with scientifi institutions, sound sculptures, objects, painting and printed works. Each of Avital’s artworks is a uniqueexperiential, poetic and emotional microcosm with its own identity, fruit of a meticulous research carriedout in a carefully coded language, confronting the recurring themes of archetype and structure; ancestraland current global-era human condition; nature and hybridity; ritual and science. Avital’s sound and visualartworks have been presented in museums, art foundations, venues and art events such as MANIFESTA Biennial,GAM-Torino, MACRO Museum of Contemporary Art Rome; OSTRALEDresden Biennial, La Fabbrica del CioccolatoFoundation in Switzerland, Saint Antoine Church Istanbul, Marino Marini Museum in Florence; National Scienceand Technology Museum “Leonardo da Vinci” in Milan. In 2021, he held his first solo exhibition ETERE in Milan, in September, he participated in both Milan Design Week and Miart with the site-specific installationMIKVE’ (Holy Bath)at Bagni Misterious. He also participated in the exhibitionSocial Impact is an Art n.41one + 1one = 3three, organized by the International School of Geneva in collaboration with Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto ONLUS, Kids Guernica Foundation, Anouk Foundation, Switzerland for UNHCR and theUniversity of Geneva.

Stefania Ballone: She graduated at “Scuola di Ballo del Teatro alla Scala”, from 2000 is part of thetheatre’s corps de ballet, where she participates in all the season’s productions, also interpreting soloroles. While dancing at the Teatroalla Scala, she is constantly involved in choreographic projects fortheatre for several and different movement expressions. She participated at the Positano Prize, 2006 and atthe Venice Biennale Dance Festival in 2007, as a dancer and assistant of the choreographer FrancescoVentriglia. In 2011, she graduated in Modern Literatures at Università degli Studi di Milano, and alsodebuting with her first choreographyPer una voltaat Parma Royal Theatre. In 2014, she graduated with aMaster in Sciences of Theatre and Performing Arts at Università degli Studi di Milano, with a thesis onBallet at the Teatro alla Scala in the Nineties.
