Join us for an inspiring talk with Chou Tung-Yen, award-winning Taiwanese director and founder of Very Theatre and Very Mainstream Studio, visiting Spain for the first time.
Chou’s works — merging theatre, film, and immersive technology — have been presented worldwide and received distinctions such as the Grand Prize at NewImages Festival (Paris) and the World Stage Design Award for Interactive and New Media.
In this special session, the artist will share his creative journey across performance, cinema, and extended reality, reflecting on the delicate spaces where technology, memory, and human emotion intertwine.
This event takes place within the framework of NUBIA LAB INCUBACIÓN IA MÓNS 2025 and the international program TRES FREQÜÈNCIES — A Month of Immersive Art, Sound & Vision, leading up to the Spanish premiere of Traversing the Mist on October 30–31 at Espronceda.

About the Artist — Chou Tung-Yen
Chou Tung-Yen (Taiwan) is an award-winning theatre director, filmmaker, and scenographer whose work fuses live performance, digital technology, and poetic narrative.
Founder of Very Theatre and Very Mainstream Studio, Chou explores the intersection of human emotion, technology, and queer identity through immersive storytelling and new media forms.
His Trilogy of Mist (2021–2023) — comprising In the Mist (Venice Film Festival 2021), Gazing, in the Mist (2022), and Traversing the Mist (2023) — reimagines intimacy in virtual space, blurring the boundaries between theatre and digital art.
Chou’s works have been showcased worldwide, including at Venice Immersive, Kaohsiung Film Festival, NewImages Festival, and IDFA DocLab.

About TRES FREQÜÈNCIES — A Month of Immersive Art, Sound & Vision
Curated within NUBIA LAB INCUBACIÓN IA MÓNS 2025, Tres freqüències transforms ESPRONCEDA into a space for XR, sound, and collective imagination.
The program features international and local artists such as Moritz Simon Geist, Depthbuffer Studio, Daniel Sabio (The Glad Scientist), Kat Alice Pegler, Sam Potter & Matthew Grimble, Niall Hill, and Xavi Bové (La Salle).
It also includes student projects from La Salle’s Master and Bachelor in Digital Arts programs, along with guest works by Average of IA and Nereides, building bridges between emerging and established voices in digital creation:
