About the artist
Estefania Urrutia (1981, Madrid, Spain) In her painting, Urrutia looks for absence, the poetics of solitude and emptiness. She feels attracted to the mysterious doors, the beauty of the simple, everyday, places of remembrance, and the silence of certain spaces that surround her. She explores with light and shades in the search for reality and color. The viewer seems to observe these spaces without being seen, spaces that sometimes are integrated also with characters with attitude of meditation and solitude. Her paintings are like a window into a space of calm and quiet, privacy and silence, where time has stopped. Latests of her latest exhibitions are: Giardinetto Stories, Galería Miquel Alzueta, Barcelona (2013) y Luz, Piramidón, Centre d’Art Contemporani, Barcelona (2012). She lives in Barcelona.
