Within the framework of NUBIA Labs 2026
ESPRONCEDA – Institute of Art & Culture presents EXUVIA, an interdisciplinary performative installation directed by artist Ailin Bars, proposing an immersive experience where body, technology, and matter intertwine in real time.
The work merges visual arts, digital art, contemporary dance, and live sound, creating a performative ecosystem in which each gesture is simultaneously transformed into image, sound, and trace. Through the use of motion sensors, capture and digital generation systems, and the interaction between performers and visual artists, the piece explores new forms of perception at the intersection of the physical and the digital.
EXUVIA unfolds across multiple simultaneous layers — stage space, visual environment, and digital dimension — where performative action, visual intervention, and real-time audiovisual generation continuously interact, giving rise to an ephemeral and constantly evolving composition.
In line with Bars’ artistic research, the body is understood as a sensitive interface capable of activating sound, light, and image, revealing how movement can expand into multiple perceptual layers and generate a shared experience between performer, technology, and audience.
The project is part of the NUBIA Labs 2026 program, ESPRONCEDA’s incubation platform dedicated to the development of digital and interdisciplinary art projects, where it has received guidance and mentorship from the center’s team, including Kris Pilcher in the field of interactive systems and digital technologies.
About the artists
Ailin Bars is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice lies at the intersection of body, technology, and performative experimentation. Her work investigates the relationship between movement, perception, and digital systems, developing immersive environments where live action is translated into visual and sonic language, exploring new forms of collective creation and expanded narrative.
Nicole Choi is an audiovisual artist and experience designer who explores the relationship between sound, image, and immersive technologies. Her practice combines creative direction, interactive media, and artificial intelligence, creating sensory experiences that connect emotion, narrative, and technology in both stage and digital contexts. She has collaborated with international institutions and festivals such as Sónar Barcelona, TUMO, and CYENS.
Matías De la Sierra is an Argentine visual artist and photographer whose practice develops between photography and contemporary art, with a focus on image construction, aesthetics, and visual narrative. His work explores identity and contemporary visual culture from a conceptual perspective, combining languages of art and fashion.
About NUBIA Labs
NUBIA Labs 2026 is an incubation and professional support program aimed at digital art and spatial computing projects, including technologies such as XR (AR/VR/MR), creative artificial intelligence, real-time interactive installations, and immersive environments. In its 4th edition, under the theme Spatial Computing and the Transversal Power of Digital Art, the program focuses on incubating projects working at the intersection of art, technology, and participatory practices, maintaining an open approach that embraces a wide diversity of languages, methodologies, and contemporary formats. https://nubialabs.com/
