ESPRONCEDA, Institute of Art and Culture presents Simbiòtica, a project by artist Pol Ros developed within the framework of NUBIA Labs 2026, which explores the relationship between humans, technology and the plant world through an audiovisual performance and an interactive installation.

The piece proposes a dialogue between species through the capture of plant bioelectricity, translated into sound and generative visuals in real time. Accompanied by cellist Asia Herz, the project articulates an immersive experience in which sound, image and living matter interact, generating a poetic narrative about consciousness, nature and the limits between the organic and the artificial.

Through a system based on sensors, algorithms and tools such as TouchDesigner and Ableton, Simbiòtica transforms plants into active agents within an audiovisual ecosystem, inviting the audience to interact and become part of the process. The work unfolds as a modular structure combining live performance and installation, exploring concepts such as culture, nature, consciousness and the unconscious. The project is part of a line of research that connects art, science and technology from an ecological and critical perspective, proposing a reflection on technology not as a tool of domination, but as a means to reconnect with the plant world and generate new forms of perception and relationship.

About the artists

Pol Ros develops a multidisciplinary practice that integrates audiovisual languages, music, visual arts and critical thinking. His work investigates the relationship between technology and nature, exploring new forms of interaction between the human and the non-human. Through interactive systems and real-time generative processes, he creates immersive experiences that position the viewer as an active part of the artistic ecosystem.

Asia Herz is a cellist trained at the Conservatory of Vila-seca and the Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona, with experience performing on national and international stages. Her practice combines classical performance with contemporary experimentation. In Simbiòtica, her live intervention establishes a dialogue between instrument, technology and living organism, expanding the performative dimension of the work.

About NUBIA Labs

NUBIA Labs 2026 is an incubation and professional support programme aimed at digital art and spatial computing projects, including technologies such as XR (AR/VR/MR), creative artificial intelligence, real-time interactive installations and immersive environments. In its 4th edition in 2026, under the axis Spatial Computing and the Transversal Power of Digital Art, the programme focuses on incubating projects working at the intersection of art, technology and participatory practices, maintaining an open approach that embraces a wide diversity of languages, methodologies and contemporary formats.
