The Salon of Espronceda – Urban Art and Society – Presentation of B-Murales/Espronceda Art Prize

We are pleased to present the B-Murales project to reflect together on the relationship between urban art and society, and how it connects with the local community in the context of social change projects. On this occasion we meet the artist Emily, artist in residence of Espronceda and winner of the 1st edition of the Espronceda / B-Murales Award. Espronceda believes in the importance of contributing to the professional growth of artists, and the awards respond to his philosophy of helping artists, and on the other hand of creating new collaborations at the local level. The talk aims to highlight both the importance of local and international collaborations, the need for new alliances and exchanges of good artistic practices, and the role that artists have in this change process, especially before and after Covid-19.

B-MURALS is collaborating with ESPRONCEDA Institute of Arts and Culture, to host, support & present a rich variety of artists from all over the world. Between 20th of September-23th of October 2021 they will host the artist Emily Jo Eldridge as part of the MICRO-RESIDENCY program at B-MURALS.

About the MICRO-RESIDENCY program at B-MURALS

Located at Nau Bostik, an industrial complex converted into a flourishing cultural hub, B-MURALS supports artists who dialogue with the public space. B-MURALS offers a space with the capacity to receive 2 artists to carry out studio work. These MICRO-RESIDENCIES are focused on short to medium term projects (between 2 and 6 months, extendable).

Manager and curator, he is committed to artistic creation with the capacity to transform the environment. Co-founder of Difusor, a pioneering entity in Barcelona in the management of intervention projects in public space, he has been a key voice in the debate and turn of municipal policies in relation to urban art. His projects have brought internationally renowned creators to the city and have advanced reflection on this discipline in artistic, academic and institutional circles.
